Employers

I have a question that’s not answered here. How do I contact you?
Right here.
How much do listings cost?
Prices range from $100 to $400 USD depending on the job type. Pricing sheet can be found here. We also offer volume discount pricing [blog post].
Do you offer a volume discount?
Save 25–35% off retail pricing by purchasing job listings in advance. Details here.
What does “all-inclusive” mean?
All-inclusive means you are willing to accept candidate applications from all job types: Full-time, Contract, Part-time, Freelance, Moonlighting, and Internship. This is helpful when you are looking for the best candidates, irrespective of their availability. In other words, you'd be willing to accept freelancers just as readily as full-time employees.
What’s the difference between full-time, contract, and freelance?
These three terms are used loosely throughout the employment world and can mean different things to different people. But in the context of Authentic Jobs, we’ve defined the following for each of these job types. Full-time is a salaried position, usually on-site and long-term, and typically 40 hours per week. Contract is a temporary or temp-to-perm position, and the contractor usually works on-site some or all of the time. Freelance is outsourced work, usually a short-term commitment, and work can often be done from anywhere.
What’s the difference between freelance and moonlighting?
Sheesh, all these fancy shmancy terms. Freelance is outsourced work, and the freelancer is often available during the day to coordinate with the in-house team. With Moonlighting, the freelancer does work on the side in the evenings or on the weekends, and communication with the in-house team is often asynchronous. Meaning, she or he may not be available during normal business hours.
How long will my listing be online?
60 days for full-time and contract listings, 30 days for everything else. After that, listings are automatically removed from the site.
How do I edit my listing?
You should have received a confirmation email after posting your listing. This email includes a link for editing your listing. If you’ve lost this email, or if spam filters ate it up (not uncommon), send us a note and we’ll resend your link.
Hi. I need an invoice.
Okay, that wasn’t a question, but we’ll still answer it. First off, invoicing is only available to U.S. customers at this time. The email you receive after posting your listing doubles as an invoice. If that’s not sufficient, contact us and we’ll manually craft one for you. Be sure to include any special instructions, such as department code, VAT, etc.
If you’re asking about being invoiced rather than paying by credit card, we’d be happy to set you up for invoicing. It’s pretty simple. We give you a code that allows you to post without being charged. Then, we invoice you by email, and you pay by check within 30 days. Your code is valid for a long time, so you can repeat this process as often as you’d like.
Where will my listing been seen?
In addition to listings being featured on authenticjobs.com, listings are also featured on cameronmoll.com and on about 20 partner websites that are targeted to the job seekers you’re hoping fill your position. Together, these sites capture millions of page views every month and hundreds of thousands of unique visitors.
What kind of response to my listing should I expect?
We place emphasis on quality of applicants, not quantity. Some employers receive many applicants, while others receive only a few. To an extent, you can affect the kind of response you receive by attracting applicants with your listing text. Do you offer a relocation package? Do you work with impressive clients? Are the job perks too good to pass up? Talk about these kinds of things in your listing.
Where are the candidates located?
About 65% of the site’s traffic comes from job seekers in the U.S. The rest comes from more than 100 countries, with the UK, Canada, and India in the second, third, and fourth positions. The first person ever hired through the site was for a company in London. We’ve had companies list (and hire) for positions as far away as Australia.
Do you offer a discount for educational institutions and non-profits?
Absolutely! We’re very friendly to educational institutions and non-profits — see our efforts with Kiva and Charity:Water. Please Contact us, tell us a little about your organization, and we’ll craft a discount just for you (usually 25% off the listed prices).
Why do you charge a lot more than craigslist?
I know, right? Well, Authentic Jobs doesn’t compete with high-volume sites like Monster.com and craigslist. We offer a targeted approach with a targeted audience. Quality over quantity. Further, with our 100% satisfaction guarantee, we could very well cost $1,000 more than craigslist, and yet if your listing doesn’t perform to your satisfaction, it doesn't cost you anything in the end. For all intents and purposes, our service could cost you less than craigslist if it doesn't work out—$0.
What happens if my listing expires and I haven’t found the right candidate?
Don’t fret. You’ve got a couple options here. Finding the right candidate, as you know, isn’t an overnight sensation. It usually takes time and patience to find the person for the job. If your listing expires and you haven’t found that special someone, you can either republish your ad (see the link in the email we sent you) or request a refund and try finding candidates elsewhere.
How do I request a refund?
Contact us and ask for a full refund within 30 days after the listing goes live. We’ll refund your payment by credit card or check. That’s it.
I can’t log in.

You can use either your username or your email address to log in. If you’ve forgotten both, get in touch and we’ll tell you what your username is. Your password, on the other hand, is totally encrypted even to our eyes, so we can’t tell you what that is. Reset your password, and if you’re still stuck after that, get in touch.

How much does it cost to apply for jobs?

I’ve applied to a job but haven't heard back. Help?
Really sorry you haven’t heard back! Our hope is that all of the customers who post jobs on Authentic Jobs respond to all the applications they receive. However, we recognize that this isn't always feasible, especially with certain categories such as moonlighting or freelance that tend to yield many applications. Try contacting the employer a second time, and if you’ve still not heard back, drop us a note. At the very least we can contact customers who exhibit a history of not replying to candidates.
I got a reply but they’re asking for spec work. Help?
Spec work, in nearly all situations, is unacceptable for jobs listed on our site. Please notify us with details about the company and the requests they’ve made, and we’ll contact them.
I’m lazy.
Chances are you’re not employed, too. You’ve come to the right place!
I’d like to receive notifications of new jobs. BTW I’m not lazy.
We like you already. That last chap was flat-out lazy. Head over to our home page and subscribe to job notifications by email. Or you can add all sorts of filters and then subscribe. Or you do Yo notifications for popular criteria if you’re into that (these work pretty well, actually). Finally, follow us on Twitter for notifications of new jobs.
Can I add my resume or profile to the site?
Yes! Sort of. Head over to Authentic Pros, our sister site. Create a profile for free. We’ll be integrating Authentic Jobs and Authentic Pros soon.
What’s Pros all about?
Authentic Pros is a directory of hackers, designers, and creative pros. It allows you to aggregate your profile across the web into a condensed listing in our directory, along with an attractive profile. You can specify areas of expertise, size of company you’re currently employed at, and the type of work you may be interested in. Even if you’re not currently looking for work, your profile provides a nice snapshot for potential employers or clients when the right opportunity comes along.
Is it pronounced “gif” or “jif”?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Good luck with that. We can’t even agree amongst ourselves, although the gifted among us give preference to “gif”. (See what we did there?)
