Professional in Residence-Web Technology/Web App Development

This position joins the Digital Media faculty in the Web Technologies degree program and teach JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, databases (MySQL & MongoDB), frameworks, API’s (REST, SOAP, Oauth), GIT version control, cross browser compatibility, and other needed courses. Coordinates with other faculty and teach in live face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities, and teaches night classes as well as day classes as needed. Develops courses and content as needed, both alone and in collaboration with others. Spends 80% of work time in teaching activities, and 20% of work time in scholarly and service activities, and keeping industry ties and interaction strong.

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Web Frameworks or Languages,
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in web development and development-related discipline(s).
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching with excellence and previous educational participation preferred.
  • Digital Media, Web-Centric Information Technology, or related discipline, terminal degree preferred.

Experienced in web development processes and methodologies that employ source code origination and versioning, Agile approaches, prototyping, build/test/deploy tools, and application delivery on multiple devices including mobile.

Experience working on a variety of websites and web application development projects.

Demonstrates a command of web application design/architecture with a mind for teaching students how to leverage the latest tools and techniques to simplify website and web application development.

Understands to a substantial level JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, databases (MySQL & MongoDB), frameworks, API’s (REST, SOAP, Oauth), GIT version control, and cross browser compatibility.

Demonstrates insightful thinking, continuous exploration, and a love for discovery and innovation.

Understanding of source code control using Git and/or tools such as NPM, Gulp, and the command line.

Understanding of test-driven development and tools such as ReactJS and the Express framework, or similar.

Expert practitioner of Web Application development principles and processes.
