Supercell is Hiring a Engineering Lead & Team “Co-Founder”

Unannounced Multiplatform Action/Adventure Game

If you haven’t heard, Supercell has started two new game development teams in North America. Building these teams represents a unique & incredible opportunity for the co-founding teams: the creative freedom & independence of starting a new team and game without having to establish a new company. One of our big motivations for pursuing this effort is to build teams that would be different and additive to Supercell. Another is to create great games that players might not expect from Supercell. We are starting teams to create unique new gameplay experiences across multiple platforms (not just mobile!). In other words: let’s build something new.

This is where you come in. One of these teams is missing a critical co-founder: the engineering leader and visionary. As a “co-founder,” we believe you’re excited by a blank sheet. You love the ambition, creativity, and responsibility such a role represents. As the team’s engineering leader, you want to help shape the game & IP vision, imagine the necessary technical solutions to execute that vision, and assemble the team to build it all together using best practices. Beyond all this, you’re 100% hands-on to help implement it.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and contribute to game vision, IP vision, and game design
  • Envision, design, and implement of highly scalable, available, and sustainable game architecture for a multiplatform, live-service game
  • Recruit, onboard, train, support, and lead necessary teammates
  • Establish and grow team values, collaboration practices, and development approach
  • Rapid prototyping and evaluation of gameplay concepts
  • Involvement in all areas of game development including programming of game logic, multiplayer, artificial intelligence, graphics, architecture, tools, user interface, and data pipelines
  • Write robust code to be used by millions of players
  • Independently create complete solutions from scratch

Compensation and Benefits

Luring you in with glitter, glamour, and gems is not what we seek to do. We develop Supercell as an employer for you to do your best work – to call this the best experience in your professional life. We want you to fully enjoy your time here, so we structure our compensation and benefits to serve this purpose.

We start with perceiving you as a human being, not a resource.

Figuring out the best way to support everyone’s holistic well-being is a never-ending journey of listening, learning, and developing. An extensive health care plan is a no-brainer for us, but so is a culture where we are encouraged to take care of ourselves above everything else.

Quality work and creativity need space, time, and relaxation. Resting and taking time off when needed are in your hands. Adhering to our Finnish roots, we take the entire month of July off, and we have an open vacation policy.

We’ve also designed a paid sabbatical program so you can extend your summer or winter break. Whether you spend that time visiting your family overseas – or get as far away from them as possible – we also offer extended parental leave.

Your personal development is personal, but all of us become better with the help and support of others. Our coaching services are easily accessible, and our continued educational support is generous.

While the salary range based on your background, skills, and experience for this position is $225k – $325k, your financial compensation model also consists of an annual bonus, RSU equity, and 401k.

Our ambition is to build the right environment where you have nothing in your way to create the best work.

About Supercell

We are a game company based in Helsinki, Finland, with offices in San Francisco, Seoul and Shanghai. We are in the process of opening offices in Seattle and Los Angeles.  Since our launch in 2010, we’ve released five games globally – Hay Day, Clash of Clans, Boom Beach, Clash Royale and Brawl Stars.
To make five games, we’ve killed dozens along the way. That’s because we’re obsessed with quality. Our goal is to make the best games – games that are played by millions, enjoyed for years and remembered forever. To achieve this goal, we create the best possible teams and give them the freedom and independence that are core to our success. Read More

The core team is working remotely in Seattle, but we are open to candidates from the West Coast and across the continent.

This job requires travel to our other offices pretty regularly.  If you are remote, there will be even more travel to meet with the Seattle team face-to-face…so keep your luggage ready.
