Bally Design is a Pittsburgh-based product design consultancy of industrial, graphic, and interface designers; facilitators, researchers, and engineers; creative thinkers and healthy skeptics. Bally is rooted in user-centered design thinking, neverending curiosity, and frequent experimentation. Our studio is located in Pittsburgh’s vibrant market neighborhood known as the Strip District.

Bally Design is seeking a UI Designer with the proven ability to create meaningful user experiences that are carefully detailed, intuitive, and visually striking. Our ideal candidate has a strong portfolio that demonstrates expert-level proficiency in visual and interaction design for complex products spanning desktop and web applications, mobile apps, and embedded interfaces. Given Bally Design’s nearly 50-year philosophy of human-centered design, we’re seeking a champion of the end user. 

Qualifications:

·         5+ years focused experience in interaction and visual design for digital products and services; experience in a consulting environment preferred

·         Knowledgeable in all aspects of user experience design, with particular strength in visual design; experience in traditional graphic design, user experience, interaction and interface design are all components of this position

·         Highly creative with strong analytical and conceptualization skills; solid understanding of composition, typography, color, usability best practices & methodologies, user-centered design processes, and human factor design principles

·         Experience managing interdisciplinary teams across multiple complex projects in a variety of industries—consumer, medical, service, and industrial

Essential functions:

·         Collaborate directly with clients to negotiate design priorities and shepherd projects from initial conceptualization through to implementation and launch

·         Communicate design process, solutions, and implementation specifications to a varied audience including management, marketing, QA, and software teams

·         Effectively balance the desires of the user with the needs of the business; balance creativity and innovation with technological realities and project constraints

·         Conduct, process, and present design research

·         Create informed use scenarios; develop detailed task flows, journey maps and/or storyboards

·         Design interactive wireframes—low fidelity conceptualization sketches to detailed content-driven mockups

·         Develop interaction prototypes to demonstrate design intent and for user evaluation

·         Create high-fidelity visual design mockups with exceptional form, color, composition, and typography

·         Develop style guides, design systems, software assets, and other related design documentation 

Technical skills:

·         Proficiency in Sketch, InVision, Adobe Suite

·      Detail-oriented project management skills including budget, personnel and schedule management
